Satellite TV Shopping Guide
If you are even remotely considering
the idea of getting a satellite tv system then you probably fall under
one of the following categories:
I just want to get
the cheapest television programming that I can find.
I'd like it if I could
have my cake and eat it as well. I want a good deal but I also want
some of the bells and whistles.
Where I live, you
can't get cable tv at all so I feel like my only choice is to get
a satellite tv dish.
I have a choice. Cable
is available where I live but I'd like to explore other alternatives.
At this point, cable seems like the easiest solution.
I've already done
some investigating on my own and I have decided that satellite tv
is what I want. Should I choose Directv® or Dish Network?

Answer: In
general, cable television programming is more expensive and offers
fewer channels than the satellite tv providers. Of the two, Dish Network
offers lower base package pricing than Directv®. However, Directv®
offers lower base package pricing than most cable operators.

Answer: Cable
television companies and satellite tv providers can offer you all
the bells and whistles. You will probably get more bang for your buck
by going with satellite tv because Dish Network and Directv® are
always competing for customers so they're constantly offering incentives.

Answer: You
may be right. Other than sticking an antenna on your roof, the only
alternative to cable is to sign up with satellite tv. The good news
is that it's not really such a bad thing to be 'stuck' in this scenario.
The satellite tv providers have a lot to offer at a small price when
compared to the cable tv companies.

Answer: In
most instances, to get cable tv all you have to do is give them a
call and they will come out and turn on your service (for a fee).
If you live in a newer community then it could be months (or more)
before the cable lines are extended to your neighborhood. Getting
started with a satellite tv system is simple as well. You just sign
up for the service and they will come out and get you all set up (without
having to pay a fee). The best part about getting a dish is that you
only need to have a clear view of the southern sky in order to get
reception.

on my own and I have decided that satellite tv is what I want. Should
I choose Directv® or Dish Network?
Answer: Of
course, this will depend on your personal needs. These days more people
are going with Dish Network simply because they offer a lower priced
base package. For the most part, Dish Network offers just about everything
that you can get with Directv® but at a lower price. Directv®
offers a great sports package that is exclusive to their service.
The best way to decide between the two is to look at each of the individual
programming packages that they offer. Try to get the channels that
you watch the most. Then you can compromise between your ideal price
and the channels that you think you absolutely have to have.
