uses three different satellites in order to broadcast all of these
channels to listeners and viewers that are located throughout the
continental US and Canada.

SIRIUS

How was the
name SIRIUS conceived?
It comes from “Sirius” which happens to be the brightest star in the
constellation of Canis Major. You can find this constellation in the
Northern Hemisphere. The constellation was named after the ancient
Egyptian god Osirus. Osirus was represented visually as a dog. That
is why Sirius is called the Dog Star.
What equipment
will I need in order to use SIRIUS?
You can use the SIRIUS
service in many different ways. You can get it installed in your vehicle
or you can take it with you wherever you go; from your car - to your
home - - to your office, boat and anywhere else you go just by using
the SIRIUS Plug & Play and Portable systems that are available for
you to buy online or at a variety of electronics stores and outlets.
Is my radio
ready for SIRIUS music?
In order to find out if your radio is SIRIUS-Ready just look for the
SIRIUS dog symbol that should appear somewhere on the outside of your
radio. A SIRIUS-Ready radio may still require you to order a SIRIUS
tuner so that the service cab be activated.
How do I
get my service activated?
After you have installed SIRIUS
radio, you can go ahead and get activated by calling the Customer
Service Center at 1-888-539-SIRIUS (7474). You can also activate your
service online. It should be noted that there is a one-time activation
fee of $15. You might also have to pay a little for taxes.
Can I block
unwanted channels?
A large percentage of SIRIUS radios give you the option to lock, password-protect,
and hide channels. This means that you can hide the content that you
want to make inaccessible from your SIRIUS radio. Just have a look
at your radio’s instruction manual in order to find instructions for
how to do this.
How can I
listen to SIRIUS online?
Just click on the "listen" icon that is located in the top right corner
of any page on the SIRIUS
website. Then you can enter your SIRIUS Username and Password in order
to gain access to the SIRIUS Player.
Can I get
my local radio stations with SIRIUS?
The SIRIUS satellite radio service does not prevent you from listening
to your local AM/FM radio stations. The SIRIUS plug and play radios
work with your existing radio.
